Our Story
Built from firsthand experience
Upesa was founded by a team of fintech engineers and operators who personally experienced the friction of cross-border payments. Sending money home, paying international contractors, receiving payments from global platforms — none of it was simple or affordable.
In 2023, we set out to build something different: a single unified app that adapts to whether you're an individual or a business. Instead of creating two separate products, we built one powerful platform where you choose your purpose on signup.
Built on the Stellar blockchain and powered by DFNS MPC technology, Upesa combines the speed of crypto rails with the familiarity of traditional banking — giving users the best of both worlds.

The genesis
We identified a gap with how stablecoin can be used to facilitate local and cross-border payments.

MVP developed and company formation
We built a DApp and tested it with a few users to validate the idea.
- 2025
Mobile app launch and beta testing
We launched our mobile wallet on Android and iOS and onboarded over 14k verified users in beta.

Core product launch
We are launching our core product supporting both consumers and businesses.
